Why do you write?
Why not? I have a theory about this. Everyone has a talent or something which they love doing. Everyone
I know has a passion. My friends all know how to play at least one musical instrument (making me the only one who doesn't
―does singing count?), a lot of them are also excellent in languages or painting/drawing. Some have overly creative
imaginations, are amazing actors, directors, and what have you. Where does that leave me? I think I can safely say I'm one
of the few people I know who write as a hobby. Some say it sounds lame, but when you know you can kick asses in French and
English alike and be considered a reference for most written assignments, you kind of don't care whether it sounds lame or
not.
How long have you been writing?
I lose count. My first full-fledged story was finished in sixth grade, so that's roughly eight years
ago. And no, you can't read it.
Do you also write in French?
Sometimes, but mostly for my francophone friends, and never very long stories. I keep French
for school assignments and multiple-pages birthday cards.
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir?
Non,
merci, je ne couche pas avec les étrangers... ni même avec les gens que je connais, en y pensant comme il faut. D'ailleurs,
vous êtes assez chenapan de me demander ça. Ouste!
(No, thank you, I don't sleep with strangers... or even with people I know, come to think of
it. Besides, you're quite a scallywag to ask me that. Scram!)
Will you ever write fanfiction in French?
Hah. Cute. As much as that would be funny, I can't seem to imagine Link going, "Non mais je t'emmerde,
Ganon, je t'emmerde!" It's hard to be comprehensible in written French without sounding like a pissed off Parisian. XD Besides,
most of the fandom speaks English. I'd be cutting you all off!
You say you're not a romantic, yet you write a lot of romance. What gives?
Argh, yes, you're right. It's true I write a lot of romance yet claim I'm a realist. But you'll
notice my love stories are generally down-to-earth. I can't stand emo-drama or the overused roses. Romance exists, but I hate
that it's so stuck in a carcan of kisses and tears. The unlikely pathos of it all prevents people from ever noticing 'romance'
that happens in daily life. Girls aren't all damsels in distress, and guys aren't always knights in shiny armour, but that
doesn't mean love can't happen between them. There are as many ways of saying 'I love you' as there are stars in the sky.
I'm not a romantic because love doesn't need romance to be told in a touching and true manner.
What's up with all the Alternate Universes?
People are very divided on which, of my canon-based or AU stories, are the best. Truth is, I enjoy
writing AUs far more. It's a fun way to play with canon without being tied to it. Occasionally, I write canon stories because
they don't need to be told in an AU, but always remember that if it had been necessary, I'd have made that plot AU without
thinking about it twice.
How long does it take for you to write oneshots, in general?
Writing the basic story, undecorated and straightforward, I can do in a few hours. It's the
whole revising part that comes afterwards that requires more time, usually a few days, on and off. And then I have a few key
people checking it out before I publish it online, just to make sure I didn't forget anything.
How long does it take for you to write multi-chaptered stories?
It's hard to say; often I take many months (between two and nine) to write the overall story, without
revisions. I like to keep it unpublished for as long as possible, in case late-story events require a modification of
the first few chapters. Even when I publish, I keep buffer chapters between what is available to all and what I'm writing/revising.
I don't panic that way.
Do you listen to music when you write?
Almost always, like almost every other author I know. It cuts off the outside world and keeps you
in the mood of what you want to write. For that reason, I have every possible mood of music on my computer, ready to be played
if I need an angry, sad, happy, funny or action-based scene. Generally, though, I listen to rock, alternative, easy listening,
soundtracks, or oldies (70s, 80s and 90s ―yes, even boy bands, sometimes).
Care to be my BETA-reader?
I BETA for a few
people, but right now I'm not taking any new submitters. Correction is awesomely fun if I'm working with someone who can take
the blunt truth, but I also need free time to actually write my own material. If I'm bored, I might offer to BETA, but for
now I'm saving it for a few particulars. : )
How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Um, do you want precise data? Because I don't do precise data. If I did, I would be studying science
and making myself useful to society. But I'm not.
Any plans to write and publish original fiction one day? And will you tell your
current fans about it?
Ergh, maybe. I need a viable story first, and I need to publish it (after finding a publisher), so
at that point who knows if I'll be willing to talk about my online self to the world, or vice versa. I'll see when, if, I
get there. But I'd like to. It'd be nice.
